INCLUSIVE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Once again, PASS will recognize any teacher or individual who works in the school district who has shown commitment to supporting ALL students.  Attached is the Nomination Form.  Note that school personnel and families can submit a nominatinon.  To do this, you may either:

1)  E-mail the form or answer the questions and e-mail them to
PittsfordPass@Frontiernet.net,
2)  Mail them to Jane Moore at 26 Pine Cone Drive, Pittsford, NY   14534,
3)  Bring to the next PASS meeting on January 28th.

The deadline for submission is February 12th - the Friday before the February break.

Last year was our first year offering this award and it was well received.  There is a plaque in the special education office with last year's winner.  It's an opportunity to promote educators who question, evaluate and collaborate with other educators AND PARENTS.  Everyone who was nominated received a letter to acknowledge their nomination and was recognized by the leadership in the district.  Thus, it's a very special way to honor any educator who has gone above and beyond for your child and your family.   The teacher does not know who nominated them unless you tell them.   Feel free to nominate more then one person and to repeat nominations from last year.
Thanks

Spring Sports Clearance forms will be available on February 1,2010. In order to be cleared and attend practice for a Spring Sport you must have the following: current physical dated on or after 03/1/09, submit a signed and fully completed Sports Clearance form dated no earlier than February 8,2010 and returned by February 24,2010. Forms received after Feb 24 will be accepted ,but cannot ensure that a student athlete will be cleared in time for the first practice!!!!If you take a medication ,that form needs to be filled out unless it is already filed here in the Health Office for this current school year 9/09-6/10. Thank you. Irene Steele, RN

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are all well aware of the presence of H1N1 Flu, also known as Swine Flu, in our country and community. At this time schools in the Pittsford Central School District are experiencing an increase in the number of student absences. Although the causes of illness are varied, more and more parents are reporting their children ill with flu-like symptoms.

The District is in close contact with, and following the recommendations of, the New York State and Monroe County Health Departments and our school physician. In addition, the District is:

  • asking parents to keep ill children home from school and extra-curricular activities.
  • asking staff to stay home if ill
  • asking parents and staff to create a family plan in the event children and/or parents become ill. It is important to plan ahead for a five to seven day absence from work or school.
  • reinforcing the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) healthy practices, described on the District website, with our students and staff.
  • maintaining a regular cleaning schedule of facilities and equipment.

The District will stay in communication with parents and staff and post updates on the Pittsford Central School District website at www.pittsfordschools.org. This website also provides important information on illness prevention, a list of symptoms, and links to useful government sites.

Sincerely,

Mary Alice Price

Superintendent of Schools
